As we gear up for the 64th Annual Grammy Awards on April 3, 2022, Wonderwall.com is reminiscing about the fashion of Grammys past. Join us as we take a look at what the stars wore to the Grammys 20 years ago in 2002… Then-lovebirds Pamela Anderson and Kid Rock both presented at the 2002 Grammy Awards. The "Baywatch" beauty hit the red carpet in a tan spaghetti-strap dress while the rap-rocker kept it super-casual with a Coors T-shirt and jeans held up with a belt featuring an American flag buckle.

Pink, a "Lady Marmalade" collaborator, rocked out on the Grammys red carpet in a sheer long black skirt and a cropped floral-patterned halter top. She made the look extra punk with her spiky hair, black gummy bracelets and dark eye makeup.

Christina Aguilera took home a Grammy in 2002 for "Lady Marmalade" — she shared the best pop collaboration with vocals prize with Lil' Kim, Mya, Pink — wearing a sheer black dress with a plunging neckline and an asymmetrical hemline. She gave the look a flapper feel with her short haircut and long beaded necklaces.

Mya both performed "Lady Marmalade" and won a Grammy for it back in 2002. For her big night, she wore a black-and-white minidress that paired leather and lace.

"Lady Marmalade" singer Lil' Kim wore red leather pants and a matching cropped leather jacket over a white dress shirt-inspired bralette to the 1992 show, which was held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. She accessorized with red leather booties, a belly dancer hip belt, red sunglasses and a Chanel helmet.

Presenter Britney Spears wore a simple red gown to the 2002 Grammys and tried a new hairstyle — tight curls pulled back off her face.

That year — when the ladies of Destiny's Child won a best R&B performance by a duo or group with vocals Grammy for their hit song "Survivor" — they skipped their typical matching outfits. Beyonce wore an ice-skater-like ensemble with a sheer top and a flowy purple skirt; Kelly Rowland paired a black sparkly tube top with a colorful low-slung colorful skirt; and Michelle Williams wore a black sparkly halter top with matching black skirt.

Patti LaBelle, who recorded the 1974 version of "Lady Marmalade" with her group Labelle, was all smiles on the 2002 Grammys red carpet in a floral-patterned dress with heavy embellishments.

There's a lot going on here! In 2002, Alicia Keys took home an impressive five Grammys including best new artist. However, her fashion choices — a sparkly hooded sheer dress over jeans and a white tank top — was not as successful.

Nelly Furtado, who won a Grammy for best female pop vocal performance for "I'm Like a Bird" in 2002, accepted her gilded gramophone in a beautifully bold orange-red gown.

Natalie Cole presented at the 2002 Grammys in a super-simple slimming black gown with a micro-flair at the bottom.

Presenter Celine Dion opted for a slinky pale pink dress covered in sparkly embellishments.

Erykah Badu, who was nominated for best R&B song in 1992 (but she lost out to Alicia Keys), wore a futuristic Greek goddess ensemble that only she could pull off.

Sheryl Crow leaned into country style with knee-high cowboy boots and a matching cut-out minidress that she covered up with a fur-lined trench coat.

Missy Elliott, proudly cradling her Grammys for "Lady Marmalade" and "Get Ur Freak On," wore a two-piece purple leather ensemble covered in gold and silver patches and beads.

Comedian Joan Rivers showed off her svelte figure in a black knee-length corset dress with a boat neck top. She added some flair to her look with purple satin pumps.

In 2002, Eve won a best rap/sung collaboration Grammy for "Let Me Blow Ya Mind" with Gwen Stefani. As she headed into the award show, she posed for photos in light, striped blouse with lengthy tails worn over black tied shorts.

Two-time 2002 nominee and performer Mary J. Blige opted for a pinstriped suit with an oversized belt and a corset-style top underneath.

Blu Cantrell, whose hit "Hit 'Em Up Style" earned her two Grammy noms, walked into the award show in a red-and-maroon printed sheer off-the-shoulder dress.

Dottie Peoples showed off her patriotism — the 2002 Grammys show was held was less than five months after the Sept. 11th terror attacks — in a head-turning red, white and blue gown.
